Optimise the way you view your web browser

If you have difficulty in reading the HSBC Private Banking website on your screen, you may be able to change the settings on your browser to help you improve their visibility.

Zoom

All the supported browsers enable to enlarge and reduce the size of currently displayed content on demand and at any time. The Zoom is easily available from:

Touchpad:

If you use laptop with touchpad the enlargement and reduction 2 fingers gestures performed on the touchpad (the same gestures as could be performed on mobile device screen) reduce and enlarge the content displayed in the browser.

PC keyboard:

Hold the ‘Ctrl’ button pressed on the keyboard and press the ‘+’ button to enlarge displayed content.
Hold the ‘Ctrl’ button pressed on the keyboard and press the ‘-’ button to reduce displayed content.
Hold the ‘Ctrl’ button pressed on the keyboard and press the ‘0’ button to restore the original size of displayed content.

If you use PC mouse with scroll wheel you can also hold the ‘Ctrl’ button pressed on keyboard and rotate the mouse scroll wheel to change the size of displayed content.

Mac keyboard:

Hold the ‘Command ⌘’ button pressed on the keyboard and press the ‘+’ button to enlarge displayed content.
Hold the ‘Command ⌘’ button pressed on the keyboard and press the ‘-’ button to reduce displayed content.
Hold the ‘Command ⌘’ button pressed on the keyboard and press the ‘0’ button to restore the original size of displayed content.

Selectable options in browsers menu:

Edge: Select the menu in the right upper corner and the Zoom section.
Firefox: Select the menu in the right upper corner and the Zoom section.
Chrome: Select the menu in the right upper corner (or press ‘Alt F’ combination of keys) then select the Settings and the Zoom section.
Safari: Select the Safari menu, select Settings for this website and the Zoom section. In older Mac OS versions select Safari menu, Preferences, Websites, Page Zoom.

Customizing the fonts and colours

The operating systems and the browsers offer menu options to customize fonts and colours of displayed text.

Edge: Select the menu in the right upper corner and select Settings. It is possible to select the colour scheme in the General subsection.
Firefox: Select the menu in the right upper corner and select Options (or press ‘Alt T’ combination of keys then press ‘O’). The fonts and colours are in the Language and Appearance section. It is also possible to set the minimal font size in this section.
Chrome: Select the menu in the right upper corner (or press ‘Alt F ’combination of keys) and select Settings. The fonts and colours as well as the minimal font size can be set under the Appearance section.
Safari: Select the Safari menu, then select Preferences and Advanced. The minimal font size can be set under the Never user font sizes smaller than. The older Mac OS versions enable to set fonts and colours under Safari menu, Preferences, Appearance section. The newer Mac OS versions enable to set the general colour scheme under the Mac system menu (under the apple symbol).

More accessibility functionality offered by browsers and operating systems

The browsers and operating systems offer more functionality which supports accessibility. Some examples are listed below. Please refer to the manual and to the help pages of your operating system and browser for more information.

Edge: The browser is integrated with page reader, which can be activated by 'Ctrl Shift G' combination of keys or through the option under the menu .
Firefox: Select the menu in the right upper corner and select Options (or press ‘Alt T’ combination of keys then press ‘O’). The Browsing section enables to set up the cursor keys to navigate on web pages.
Chrome: Select the menu in the right upper corner (or press ‘Alt F ’combination of keys) and select Settings then select Advanced and Accessibility. Enables to set up captions and add accessibility features from Chrome Web Store.
Safari: Select the Safari menu, then select Preferences and Advanced option, which enables to set the minimal font size and to set behaviour of Tab key to explore the web pages. Additional accessibility functionality, e.g. screen reader Voice Over, selector of general colour scheme, voice controlled input, which can be used not only with Safari browser but with any other application running on Mac, are available under the Mac system menu (under the apple symbol).
